Diese spielt ein Jahr später – in der Zeit, in der Simon und seine Freunde langsam von der Highschool Abschied nehmen – und wird aus der Sicht von Simons bester Freundin Leah erzählt – und ist daher eher ein Spin-Off als eine Fortsetzung.Leah ist bisexuell, aber das weiß eigentlich niemand (außer ihrer Mum). Sie ist etwas kräftiger gebaut, 18 Jahre alt und besucht mit ihren Freunden eine Highschool in Creekwood. Doch ihre gemeinsame Zeit geht dem Ende entgegen, denn bald wechseln die Jugendlichen an die Unis. Eigentlich wollte Leah diese letzten Monate an der Highschool genießen, aber dann kommen ihr ihre Gefühle dazwischen. Garret, der eigentlich ganz süß (aber auch ziemlich nervig) ist und sich in sie verliebt zu haben scheint. Simon und Bram, die echt süß zusammen sind. Und Abby… Abby, die eigentlich hetero ist… Abby, die Leah eigentlich nicht leiden kann, weil sie so süß ist und so perfekt… Abby, die eigentlich mit Nick zusammen ist… Die beiden kommen sich immer näher, bis die Grenzen verschwimmen. Was ist Freundschaft? Und was Liebe?Mir hat das Buch sehr gut gefallen. Die Geschichte ist wunderschön, und auch ermutigend. Darum gehört „Ein Happy End ist erst der Anfang“ im Moment zu meinen Lieblingsbüchern. Die Charaktere sind toll – Leah und ihre Freunde sind mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Leah ist cool, herrlich ironisch und mega sympathisch. Sie ist etwas kräftiger gebaut, lässt sich aber nicht einschüchtern und macht auch keine Diät oder so. Oft macht sie witzige Sprüche. Auch darum ist das Buch echt lustig. Homosexualität ist ein wichtiges Thema, finde ich. Ich kann Leute nicht verstehen, die etwas gegen Homosexuelle, Schwarze, etc. haben, obwohl man das ja auch nicht unter einen Hut stecken sollte. Die Autorin hat versucht, in ihrem Buch viele dieser Themen zu behandeln, das hat sie auch relativ gut hinbekommen. Mir war am Anfang nicht so klar, ob Leah hetero, lesbisch oder bi- sexuell ist, das hat sich dann aber erübrigt.Im ersten Band geht es um den Alltag an der Highschool, im zweiten Band schon eher um Unis und den Abschied von der Schule. Man kann die beiden Bände auch unabhängig voneinander lesen. Ich weiß gar nicht, welches Buch ich besser fand. Leah spielt Schlagzeug in der Mädchenband der Schule. Während sie spielt kann sie alles um sich herum vergessen und nichts bringt sie aus dem Takt. Allerdings hat sie in letzter Zeit das Gefühl, dass sich alle anderen weite entwickeln und sie einfach nur stehen bleibt. Alle ihre Freunde haben feste Beziehungen, planen ihre Zukunft an den unterschiedlichsten Universitäten und scheinen ein deutliches Ziel vor Augen zu haben. Nur sie fühlt sich unzulänglich, unzufrieden und irgendwie zurück gelassen. Leah wohnt mit ihrer alleinerziehenden, jungen, fröhlichen Mutter in einem kleinen Haus. Schon immer haben die beiden eine unzertrennliche Einheit gebildet aber auch hier kündigen sich Veränderungen in Form eines neuen Freundes der Mutter an. Leah hat einerseits Angst vor der Zukunft und kann sie andererseits gar nicht schnell genug erwarten. Außerdem ist da noch die eine ganz besondere Person, die Leahs Herz allein durch ihre Anwesenheit aus dem Takt bringt und in einen Strudel verwirrender Gefühle zieht.Ein wundervoller Roman über Liebe, Sexualität, Coming out, Selbstfindung und das verwirrende letzte Schuljahr, welches die Weichen für das weitere selbstbestimmte Leben stellt.Für alle Fans von „Nur drei Worte“. Die Geschichte geht weiter und alle bereits bekannten Personen tauchen wieder auf. Zeitlich schließt die Handlung an den ersten Roman an. Allerdings erzählt diesmal Simons beste Freundin Leah in der Ich-Form im Präsens. So tauchen natürlich neue Charaktere wie Leahs Mutter und deren Freund auf. Andere Figuren wie Abby und Garret werden näher beleuchtet und ins Zentrum der Handlung gerückt.Mitreißend, dynamisch und fesselnd entführt die Autorin ihre Leser in das Leben einer realistischen, glaubwürdigen Protagonistin. Gefühle, Gedanken, Handlungen und Ängste sind altersentsprechend nachvollziehbar.Der Roman ist perfekt für jugendliche Leser ab 14 Jahre. Er gibt wertvolle Denkanstöße während der geistigen und körperlichen Selbstfindung und ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Catherine Reef presents the author, her family life and incorporates the books written by Austen into that timeline. It was highly interesting to learn more about Jane's family and also typical difficulties about publishing in the 18th and 19th century.This novel has many information and details, to me mostly already known details and so rather boring sometimes. What I experienced as too long and unnecessary, could assist a reader not accustomed with Austen's work to follow the novels and analysis of Austen's work much easier. Catherine Reef gives detailed summaries of all of Jane Austen's books. The analysis tough isn't that detailed and insightful.JANE AUSTEN- A LIFE REVEALED interests with a profound index bibliography. In addition this novel has many pictures and additional information and material like original photographed pages of Austen's letters to offer. The layout is lovely and convinces with many quotes. Also included are filmic references to Austen movie adaptations.The writing style isn't that engaging, rather dry. It took me ages to read JANE AUSTEN- A LIFE REVEALED because I often got distracted or uninterested, but I still could find a good re-start when reading on.As JANE AUSTEN- A LIFE REVEALED is full of information about Jane Austen that are true and biographical. I shall only mention one reason why we love this book.
